How to use Toshiba Function (Fn) keys. There is a row of Function keys at the top of the keyboard on every Toshiba notebook. These give you quick access to some useful functions. 1/
I had the very same problem after installing Windows 10 on my son's Toshiba Satellite L7750-S7340 Laptop. The top row of number keys (1 - 4) didn't work, and my space bar would only work if I pressed it with the 'FN' key. There may have been other problems, but I was focused on just the two previously described. I did all the usual trouble shooting things with no luck, although I noticed something wierd in device manager and returned to it after exhausting all the tips found on boards. I had noticed that my keyboard was listed as Lenovo and it had mouse drivers too; showing the mouse was Lenovo, as well. I have been using a Microsoft wireless mouse (with USB dongle) and my keyboard was always Toshiba. So I removed the Lenovo Keyboard (and drivers) and the Lenovo mouse (and drivers) from my system. I rebooted and upon start-up everything was running normally again. Try this and see if it works for you. GOOD LUCK!
2/- After installing windows 10, windows start to download and install update . I see Synaptics pointing Device driver version 19.0.9.5 (for Lenovo) conflicts with my laptop Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7226 . Problem is after updating (installing) some keys did not work such as number keys 1,2,3,4 and spacebar. So I enter control panel, choose Uninstall program and click Synaptics pointing Device driver (this version for Lenovo keyboard, although my keyboard is Toshiba) to uninstall it. After that my keyboard get back to normal. After that I get in Toshiba webstite and download touchpad driver (Synaptic pointing Device driver version 15.2.11.1) for my laptop, I installed it and see the laptop works normally. But widows update continue downloading the synaptics driver update for Lenovo pointing device into my laptop, so I have to stop it by change device system (http://www.isunshare.com/windows-10/change-device-installation-settings-in-windows-10.html) - Control panel > system and security > System - On the left control panel click Advanced system settings, choose Hardware, click Device installation settings, - Choose No, let me choose what to do, - Deselect 'Always install the best driver software from Windows Update', select 'Never install driver software from Windows Update' and deselect 'Automatically get the device app and info provided by your device manufacturer', - And then hit Save Changes.
